Detailed description
Plocamia stands out with its airy and elegant structure, creating an impression of graceful and fluid motion within the aquarium. Its long, delicate tentacles move with consistency and poise, offering not only an aesthetically pleasing sight, but also a calming one – like silk threads swaying in slow underwater wind.
Despite its fragile appearance, its movement is steady and confident. It’s a jellyfish that doesn’t demand attention with size or color, but with presence. This species is one of the closest in the Ocean’s Clouds collection to the appearance of large, iconic ocean jellyfish, combining elongated form with visual harmony.
Plocamia is believed to originate from the tropical Indo-Pacific, particularly from reef-rich waters of the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and northern Australia. There, it glides through shallow currents, often found near reef edges and coastal slopes, where sunlight filters gently through the water and enhances its translucence.
In the aquarium, it acts as an elegant statement piece – a living sculpture of balance, appreciated by aquarists who seek a visually striking species with a serene personality. It’s especially captivating in minimalistic tanks with soft lighting, where its full silhouette and rhythm can be observed without distraction. Whether alone or in small groups, Plocamia transforms the aquarium into a quiet, floating composition – a natural artwork in motion.

Plocamia
size guide
The bell of this species can grow up to 15–20 cm (6–8 inches), while its tentacles can range between 5 and 130 cm (2–51 inches), making it one of the most impressive species in the Ocean’s Clouds collection.
Although Plocamia is compatible with most smaller tanks, we recommend it primarily for larger aquariums, where it can fully develop in size and motion. In spacious environments, its bell and tentacles reach their full potential, significantly enhancing the aesthetic experience.
Young individuals are shipped in an early stage, and their growth is gradual but striking.

Lifespan guide
Plocamia is among the longest-living species in the Ocean’s Clouds collection and can live up to 30 months under ideal conditions. Its growth and development are gradual, allowing you to observe subtle changes in size and appearance throughout its life.
Maintaining longevity requires stable environmental conditions, regular care, and caution when handling both the jellyfish and its surroundings.
Caring for
Plocamia
This species prefers cooler water with a temperature range of 15–17 °C (59–63 °F) and a stable salinity of 30–32 ppt. Plocamia can sting, which is why it must be kept separately, just like all other jellyfish in the Ocean’s Clouds collection.
During cleaning and tank maintenance, it is important to exercise extra care to avoid injury to both the jellyfish and the keeper. The care level is rated 3 out of 5, including regular water quality monitoring and proper flow, which supports healthy growth and pulsing. For feeding, we recommend Marine Food or baby brine shrimps, administered 3–4x per week.

At Ocean’s Clouds, we believe that beauty should flow hand in hand with responsibility. That’s why every jellyfish we offer is bred in a carefully controlled environment — never taken from the wild. Raised under optimal conditions, they grow without stress, mirroring the calm they later bring into your home.
Our aquariums are designed to echo the natural rhythm of the sea. With no sharp edges and a continuous circular flow, they create the ideal habitat for jellyfish to drift, pulse, and glow — just as they would in open waters. It’s a living sculpture that adds silence, softness, and balance to any space.
This is not just about keeping jellyfish. It’s about creating a daily ritual of calm, a connection to the ocean, and a space where science, design, and nature meet. What you see is effortless beauty. What lies beneath is precision, ethics, and years of marine expertise.
